Transylvanian is a large, softneck garlic with a hot, sharp bite. Each bulb provides 10-14 cloves. It’s an early season garlic, so you can be enjoying it in your kitchen before other garlic varieties are ready to harvest. It features creamy white skin with just a trace of purple when the skin is pulled back.
Garlic can be planted in the spring as soon as the ground can be worked, but fall planting is recommended. In areas that get a hard frost, plant garlic 6-8 weeks before the first frost, cover with a 3" layer of straw, grass clippings or other organic mulch.
