Description

All orders to California will be shipped bare root in accordance with state regulations.

The bark of the Cottonwood is grey, thick, and deeply furrowed. It features a broad, open crown of widely spreading branches. The leaves are triangular, 3”-5” long and wide, and are a shiny green color, turning bright yellow as summer changes to fall. Cottonwoods commonly favor wetter soil and are found along lakes, riverbanks, and irrigation ditches.

Cottonwoods can live to be over 100 years old. There are cottonwoods on the Great Plains today that were living when the great herds of bison still roamed the prairie.
